Cookie Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies www.helpful-site.com uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. Cookies and similar browser storage

Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to website owners.

Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (stored for a defined period or until you delete them). They can also be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by another domain, such as Google).

Websites can also store preferences in browser storage that is not technically a cookie. For example, this site records your advertising-consent choice in local storage. Browser privacy menus often group cookies and site data together, but the storage types have different lifetimes and controls. This policy describes both where they are used.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the website to function. These cannot be disabled.
  • Functional — remember your preferences and settings.
  • Analytics — page and interaction events may be measured by Plausible; see the Privacy Policy for data handling.
  • Advertising — used by Google AdSense to serve relevant ads to free-tier users. Premium subscribers are not shown ads.

4. How to Control Cookies

You have several options for controlling cookies:

Reset your cookie consent on this site

This will reload the page and show the consent banner again so you can review your choices.

Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Note that refusing certain cookies may affect the functionality of this website. Common browser settings:

Google advertising settings: You can manage Google personalised advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings . This is separate from the Necessary only choice in our consent banner.

5. What each storage choice does

The consent banner offers Accept all and Necessary only. Choosing Necessary only stores a refusal of optional advertising in the browser; it does not block the tools or sign-in features that the site needs to operate. Closing the banner uses the same necessary-only choice. The banner appears again if its saved choice is removed or the browser cannot read it.

The consent record is stored as the hs_cookie_consent local-storage value and has no timed expiry in the current implementation. The navigation sidebar cookie lasts seven days. Clearing site data can remove these values, reset the banner, and clear other saved browser preferences. It can also remove locally saved tool information; check the Privacy Policy and the tool’s sync indicator before clearing data you may need.

6. Optional advertising and third-party cookies

Advertising slots are used for the free experience only when advertising consent is available and the account is not on Premium. A browser or privacy extension may still block a permitted ad request, and a provider may change which cookies it uses. The table is therefore a practical guide, not a fixed inventory for every browser session.

Choosing Necessary only prevents the site from treating your banner choice as permission for optional advertising cookies. Premium removes advertising from the site. It does not make a general promise about every technology used by a browser, sign-in provider, or other third-party service; consult the linked provider policies for their own current details.

7. Analytics and measurement

Helpful-Site.com currently loads Plausible for page-view and interaction measurement. The analytics script is separate from the Google advertising tags described above. It is not listed as a cookie in the table because the site’s Plausible integration does not write a first-party analytics cookie. See Plausible’s data policy and our Privacy Policy for details about analytics data.

Analytics events can include the page being viewed and named interactions, such as opening a related guide. They are used to understand which parts of the site are used and where improvements may help. Do not include passwords, payment details, or private customer information in a tool or message; no analytics setting changes that basic data-minimisation rule.

Read Plausible’s data policy.

8. Managing cookies and site data

Use Reset cookie consent above to remove this site’s saved advertising choice and display the banner again. To remove other browser storage, open your browser’s site or privacy settings and clear data for Helpful-Site.com. The exact menu name differs between desktop and mobile versions; the browser support links below provide the current steps for each product.

Deleting all site data can sign you out, remove local preferences, and clear unsynced information. Where the tool offers account sync, verify that the latest change has synced before clearing data. Turning off third-party cookies in a browser may also affect embedded or advertising services, while blocking local storage can cause the consent banner to return on later visits.

9. UK guidance and policy changes

The Information Commissioner’s Office publishes guidance about cookies and similar technologies. This page describes the site’s current storage behaviour; it is not legal advice and does not replace the ICO’s explanation of applicable rules. If you need to understand how a requirement applies to a particular organisation or service, consult the current official guidance.

When a material storage practice changes, this page’s updated date should change with it. We encourage you to review the policy again after a change to consent choices, sign-in, advertising, or browser storage.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy periodically. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy regularly.
